Truth be told, generally speaking, I would say I prefer European cars over everything else. It just so happens some of my all time faves are Japanese. I heard about this car show this weekend in Essen, Germany...roughly 60 miles up the autobahn from me. So I just HAD to go. As was expected, Porsche-mania, Mercedes-mania, large italian and british contingents, precious few american cars, one Toyota, and every kind of pre-1950 "Dick Tracy car" you could care to see. I thought MB 300SL gullwings were supposed to be rare, I have seen less minivans at a PTA meeting than I saw gullwings today. All in all, pretty much every european car I ever wanted to see up close and personal was on display. Lots of racecars of all eras as well, very cool. Many cars I had seen thousands of times in print or online but never had the chance to sit in get a good close look at. Lots of fun.My digicam is awful, I know, sorry, maybe next year I'll have something better. I started running out of battery not even halfway through, so I had to conserve pics for stuff I knew I would likely want a pic of later. Still, there were a great many pics I couldnt take in the final BMW hall of really cool bimmers of years' past. Anyways, to make it pseudo-Z-related.....

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every principle of our socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without ever knowing how it happened.... I no longer need to run on the Socialist Party ticket because the Democrat Party has now adopted our platform." --Norman Thomas, 1944 Socialist Party Presidential Candidate "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill
